a couple weeks ago i shot a wedding at the beauitufl tennessee theatre.  i have gone to countless concerts and events at the theatre.  it is really one of my favorite places.  i was really excited when vita said that was where her wedding was going to be held.  i knew with a backdrop like the theater it was going to be a grand affair, and it was.  i am working on the wedding photos as we speak, but wanted to give you a sneak peak of her bridal portrait session.  enjoy!

ever since we got home from vacation i have been BUSY!  lots of weddings, engagement sessions, bridal portrait sessions, and of course my favorite thing, editing!  but it is always nice when you get a wedding like allison and john's.  allison and john's wedding had everything that makes up a GREAT wedding.  lots of fun details, lots of personality, and most of all lots of LOVE.  if you asked me to describe allison and john's relationship in one phrase, i would say, they are absolutely crazy about each other.  or as her dad said during his toast at the reception, "you could get a tooth ache if you hang around the two of them together for too long."  that statement could not be more true.  here are just some of my favorites from their fun day!

allison gaddis from live, laugh, love, weddings planned the entire event.  i loved the fun color scheme that just screamed allison and john's personality!

as most of you know, normally my sister is my second shooter, but i had the privilege of having that awesome hannah wilhoit come along with me for this wedding and she did a fabulous job!  i loved these next two detail shots she got of the different napkins that allison had for the tables.
johnandallisonweb-2.jpg

i loved how allison used banquet tables!  Here in the south, most receptions are buffet style and then seated in round tables, but i thought that the banquet tables were a nice touch.  they still had a buffet, so brides, don't be afraid to mix up and break the rules a little bit!

allison and john decided to do a "first look" and see each other before the ceremony.  i would definitely describe myself as an emotional person.  so, don't be surprised if you catch me shedding a tear at some point while photographing your wedding....but, i have to admit, i wept during their "first look".  allison, the wedding planner, had to come up to me and ask if needed a tissue.  it was just sooooo sweet.  they like REALLY love each other :)

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of taking a much needed vacation to Alaska.  What a beautiful place!  I have always thought that Alaska would be full of incredible scenery but it far exceeded my expectations.

If you are thinking about making a trip to Alaska, I would strongly recommend it.  I would also suggest going on a cruise, like we did.  Getting to port in several different cities and towns was a great way to see this state.

A few highlights:
1) Going whale watching in Juneau.  It was completely surreal to see these giant creatures jumping out of the water right beside our boat.

2) Taking a helicopter ride to a glacier.  Justin convinced me that this was a good idea, and he ended up being right.  I thought I would be scared of the helicopter trip, but I ended up loving it! This was an incredible way to see Alaska: snow capped mountains, rivers, waterfalls, everything you can think of.  To top it off, we landed on top of a glacier and got to walk around and explore.

3) Taking a floatplane ride.  Justin again convinced me that this would be fun.  We took a catamaran deep into the Alaskan wilderness and saw some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. After a couple of hours we boarded a floatplane and it took us back.  It's a pretty weird feeling being in a plane that takes off from the water like that, but it was a fun experience.  I think I prefer the helicopter though.

4) Victoria, British Columbia.  On the way back, we ported in Victoria for an evening.  Wow! This city is very beautiful and I wish we would have had more time there.  We traveled to the Butchart Gardens while we were there and I was blown away by its beauty.  If can't wait to go back to British Columbia at some point.

Here are a few pictures from the trip, hope you enjoy!

i really don't have any great photos of the whales but whale watching really was one of my favorite things i have ever done.

alaskablog-20.jpg

the glacier was so beautiful and had these really big holes that would drop like 80 ft but were the most beautiful color blue you have ever seen.  Justin wouldn't let me get too close because he was afraid I would fall in.....I mean, I guess I can't really blame him.  I would be the one to fall into a hole on a glacier....

The next day Justin and I took a catamaran basically out into the wilderness and saw some of the most beautiful scenery!

being a wedding photographer in such a beautiful place is always a little bit intimidating for me.  i always feel so out of my element doing landscape photography, but there are some things that are just so beautiful that you can't really mess them up.

alaskablog-25.jpg
we then took a float plane back and when we got off there were these amazing starfish EVERYWHERE!  I just loved them!alaskablog-26.jpg

we ended our trip in the beautiful victoria, bc.  i absolutely NEED to go back there.  i LOVED it!
i have shot lots of fabulous weddings lately and have even more coming up that i cannot wait to share with you!  hope you have a happy monday!!!!

i just loved nicole and eric's wedding!  it was such a happy and sweet event.  it was full of family and full of love.  i have had the opportunity this year to shoot a lot of weddings of couples who have been together for a long time, and there is just something so fun about seeing these two people who know each other so well, love each other so much, finally get married.

eric "bedazzled" nicole's.  does it get much cutter than that?  i think not.

now on to part two of ashley and matthew's nashville wedding!  as i said before, i have known the reeds' for a few years through doing young life at webb (where all the reed kids went) and also, caroline (matthew's sister) is one of my best friend's, best friend's....does that make sense?!?  anyway!  all that to say, it has been really fun getting to know ashley through the whole wedding process as well.  she is so fun, so laid back, and super easy to get along with.  there is one thing that ashley and i definitely have in common.  we both LOVE our dogs! :) as i mentioned in the rehearsal dinner post, they had dog themed table assignments, and olivia is ashley's dog.  i have always loved pugs, so for me, meeting olivia at ashley and matthew's engagement session was pretty much love at first sight.  and she did not dissapoint the day of the wedding while getting ready.  she was hilarious!  she definitely knew something was going on, and she did not know what to think about it!
