If you are thinking about making a trip to Alaska, I would strongly recommend it. I would also suggest going on a cruise, like we did. Getting to port in several different cities and towns was a great way to see this state.
A few highlights:
1) Going whale watching in Juneau. It was completely surreal to see these giant creatures jumping out of the water right beside our boat.
2) Taking a helicopter ride to a glacier. Justin convinced me that this was a good idea, and he ended up being right. I thought I would be scared of the helicopter trip, but I ended up loving it! This was an incredible way to see Alaska: snow capped mountains, rivers, waterfalls, everything you can think of. To top it off, we landed on top of a glacier and got to walk around and explore.
3) Taking a floatplane ride. Justin again convinced me that this would be fun. We took a catamaran deep into the Alaskan wilderness and saw some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. After a couple of hours we boarded a floatplane and it took us back. It's a pretty weird feeling being in a plane that takes off from the water like that, but it was a fun experience. I think I prefer the helicopter though.
4) Victoria, British Columbia. On the way back, we ported in Victoria for an evening. Wow! This city is very beautiful and I wish we would have had more time there. We traveled to the Butchart Gardens while we were there and I was blown away by its beauty. If can't wait to go back to British Columbia at some point.
Here are a few pictures from the trip, hope you enjoy!

gearing up to canoe to the mendenhall glacier

hot apple cider and yummy salmon spread for our little snack.

i really don't have any great photos of the whales but whale watching really was one of my favorite things i have ever done.

the view from the helicopter on our way to the Meade Glacier!

the glacier was so beautiful and had these really big holes that would drop like 80 ft but were the most beautiful color blue you have ever seen. Justin wouldn't let me get too close because he was afraid I would fall in.....I mean, I guess I can't really blame him. I would be the one to fall into a hole on a glacier....

The next day Justin and I took a catamaran basically out into the wilderness and saw some of the most beautiful scenery!

being a wedding photographer in such a beautiful place is always a little bit intimidating for me. i always feel so out of my element doing landscape photography, but there are some things that are just so beautiful that you can't really mess them up.
we then took a float plane back and when we got off there were these amazing starfish EVERYWHERE! I just loved them!

we ended our trip in the beautiful victoria, bc. i absolutely NEED to go back there. i LOVED it!
i have shot lots of fabulous weddings lately and have even more coming up that i cannot wait to share with you! hope you have a happy monday!!!!
